Tomatoes are available year round but are at their best in autumn. Cherry tomatoes have the greatest amount of sugar of all the tomato types, so are good for eating raw in salads or salsas, or halve them and use to top a home made pizza, or briefly roast or pan-fry and serve with fish, chicken or meat. Cherry tomatoes are usually sold in punnets. To Store: Do not refrigerate tomatoes. They are sub-tropical in origin and chilling destroys some of their flavour. Store them at room temperature, away from sunlight.
